As workers become more reluctant to leave their stable jobs, recruiters have had to turn to new methods to attract talent, recent stories have shown.
A panelist at SHRM Talent said the world is in a “post-attraction” era, and talent professionals now need to “focus on seduction.”
Recruiters need to offer a cure for whatever pain a candidate is facing that is making them consider a new job, the panelist said.
Another challenge is the sea of applications created with artificial intelligence tools that make it difficult for recruiters to identify good candidates, Glassdoor found.
As a result, some have turned to nontraditional methods to locate candidates, a Zety survey showed. That includes looking for talent outside of work, such as at restaurants, grocery stores, airports, parties and sometimes dating apps.
Recruiters, too, need to find ways to accurately assess candidates’ skills as generative AI use can complicate doing so, a senior director of research in the Gartner HR Practice wrote for HR Dive. She suggested using interview questions that generative AI struggles with, such as behavioral questions that rely on personal experience rather than generic questions about management style.
