Dive Brief:
- Choosing to integrate artificial intelligence into the world of work is no longer the core AI issue, a new study from ManpowerGroup Talent Solutions suggests. Workforce readiness and overall AI leadership are, according to a July 22 report.
- Just 17% of organizations claimed “advanced” or “transformational” workforce readiness, in which AI capability “is deeply embedded into workflows,” the report said.
- Likewise, only 3% of the 80 C-suite, CHRO, and senior talent acquisition leaders surveyed could say their leaders are “highly prepared” to lead regarding AI adoption at work.
Dive Insight:
If the first era of AI at work was marked by questions of adoption, the second era will be that of “adaptation,” Sailesh Hota, vice president of Everest Group, said in a July 22 statement sharing the workforce readiness findings.
“As Al becomes embedded across talent processes and workforce systems, the ability to redesign how work is organized may become a more important determinant of success than technology deployment alone,” Hota added.
Likewise, newly published research from Gallup supports this idea that AI has become embedded in the current world of work — for better or worse.
Rates of AI adoption are only increasing, according to Gallup’s July 21 report, but the research noted that employee engagement is unchanged from its current low point, indicating that AI adoption alone won’t determine whether or not a workforce is engaged.
Notably, learning and development programs are a key way to improve employee engagement, a recent SHRM report indicated — especially in the era of AI.
