- Foster + Partners, a leader in architectural and design practice, has chosen the Cornerstone LMS to handle its internal employee learning and development needs, according to Diginomica.
- Laggi Diamandi, head of learning and development at Foster + Partners, told Diginomica that the primary goals of the LMS were to honor the firm's highly visual and creative team while presenting new concepts in a UX friendly manner. Diamandi also said the top skills for L&D professionals include implementation processes knowledge, graphic design elements and data journalism.
- The new learning system will make it easier for the Foster + Partners team to complete the mandatory hours of training needed each year to maintain the firm's credentials. For example, registered architects are required to attend 35 hours of professional development training annually.
Every learning and design professional needs to have a certain set of skills in order to succeed in this market. But certain industries, like architecture, require an advanced knowledge of creative concepts to develop appropriate learning materials.
There has to be a certain comfort level with training modules as well. In this example, the L&D supervisor worked with a external partner that had previous experience working with the product. Diamandi knew the capabilities of Cornerstone and how it could adapt to the needs of his architects, who complete ongoing training.
Every company needs to examine the systems that are in place for learning and evaluate them periodically to ensure they are meeting employee skill requirements and core learning objectives.
