Dive Insight:
Demand for talent continues to grow in this job seeker's market. The latest numbers for February show the U.S. gained the largest number of jobs in almost two years. Companies looking for interns for the coming summer season will likely face stiff competition, and demand for entry-level professional promises to be strong.
Additionally, the administration’s "Buy American, Hire American" initiative continues, putting further strain on an already backlogged H-1B system. The low unemployment rate isn’t helping matters, either.
In response, more employers than ever are considering contingent or freelance workers to close the gap — which naturally brings its own set of challenges. Others are opting to focus on the employee experience, which the Glassdoor report makes clear. Still more are banking on more traditional offerings, like improved wages.
