Dive Brief:
- There is a changing of the HR guard at aerospace giant Boeing, as Heidi B. Capozzi has been named to replace Tony Parasida as the company's human resources leader, effective March 1, 2016.
- Parasida logged 38 years at Boeing, having joined the company in 1978 at Boeing's Philadelphia operations as a structures engineer on helicopter programs. Since then, he's held numerous roles of increasing responsibility within aircraft design, Integrated Product Team leadership and program and general management.
- Capozzi, who came to Boeing in 2009, worked in leadership roles in human resources, compensation, and communications during her career. Her latest assignment was leading the team responsible for identifying and developing emerging leadership talent within the company.
Dive Insight:
"Heidi Capozzi is a strong, experienced human resources leader who advocates for employees, collaborates to find solutions, and has a passion for developing leaders and our talent pipeline," said Boeing President and CEO Dennis Muilenburg. "With a broad set of industry experiences, she brings great perspective to this important new assignment and the investments we are making in our people and teams."
Muilenburg said Boeing was grateful for Parasida's leadership in several of the company's product and services areas, as well as his ability to successfully bring a business leader's perspective to the challenges of preparing human resources strategies for the company's second century.
"He has our gratitude and best wishes in his retirement," Muilenburg said.
Boeing's changes in HR leadership serve as an interesting example of how different HR leaders can come from different backgrounds but still be very successful. For example, Parasida served within several business lines before taking over the HR helm, while Capozzi was an Asian Studies undergraduate major and has a master's degree in human resources and industrial relations from the University of Minnesota.
