CuraLinc Healthcare, a global leader in workforce mental health and wellbeing solutions, is proud to announce the release of Addiction Care Navigator, embedded within every employee assistance program (EAP) model to ensure easy access to – and visibility of – the substance use resources available to employees and their families.
Substance use disorders affect approximately 1 in 6 working Americans aged 25 to 54. However, only 10% actively seek treatment. The pervasive stigma surrounding addiction can keep employees from getting the care they need, and those who want to take the first step toward recovery may not know where to start. Researching treatment options without proper guidance can be overwhelming and fruitless, leading employees to out-of-network treatment centers and providers with lengthy wait lists. Addiction Care Navigator empowers employees to seek support and ensures they are connected to the most appropriate treatment options when they’re ready for help.
How Addiction Care Navigator Works
Addiction Care Navigator starts with a confidential and brief clinically validated assessment, the results of which drive an immediate risk analysis and a personalized action plan that includes treatment options and a variety of interactive and self-service resources. For participants who present with an elevated substance use concern, the digital tool will ask for consent before an Addiction Care Coach proactively reaches out to provide clinical support and guidance.
Whether the member’s level of risk indicates a need for short-term counseling or a higher level of care such as intensive outpatient, inpatient or residential treatment, CuraLinc’s Addiction Care Coaches play a vital role in facilitating the employee’s journey toward recovery. They will research referrals to appropriate treatment programs, confirm availability and in-network status, and even call the program with the employee to serve as an advocate in connecting to care.
While this level of clinical support and navigation is, and always has been, available for all members, regardless of the focus or severity of their needs, Addiction Care Navigator optimizes the client’s workforce mental health program as a holistic source for substance use concerns.
“For how prevalent substance use is, it is not one of the top reasons employees use their EAP,” explains Kathy Mahieu, Senior Vice President of Strategy at CuraLinc. “Addiction Care Navigator is a digital ‘start here’ button for those who might be hesitant to raise their hand for help. It bridges the gap between someone choosing to seek support and actually receiving care for substance use.”
