Award-winning entrepreneur and author pens personal story of waking up to the toxicity of American work culture to find personal and professional happiness

Colorado Springs, Colo. (June 25, 2019) — Accomplished entrepreneur, speaker and author Carlos Hidalgo today announced the launch of his second book, "The UnAmerican Dream." The book, which is now available on Amazon, reveals the truth about the price many pay in order to keep pace with modern business pressures. Hidalgo challenges conventional career wisdom and candidly describes his own journey in pursuit of The American Dream, detailing how his relentless focus on career success nearly cost him everything.

“Like many other entrepreneurs and professionals, I spent way too much time chasing The American Dream at the expense of what I held most dear,” says Hidalgo. “My hopes in writing this book are to share the changes I made that turned my life around, save others time and heartache and invite readers to define success on their own terms.”

Through authentic, honest and vulnerable storytelling, Hidalgo describes how he hustled his way to entrepreneurial success and the resulting negative impact on his closest relationships. Hidalgo shares how he was eventually able to re-center himself and offers practical advice for those in a similar situation. The book also includes perspectives from a variety of executives and from his wife, Susanne, who describes being on the other side of his quest for success.

“Many of us look at the American Dream as the highest of our values and ideals. But we don't stop to think about what chasing it can do to our health and our relationships,” says Michael Brenner, CEO, speaker and author. “In ‘The UnAmerican Dream,’ Carlos shares his story in such a raw, courageous, and vulnerable way about how he learned this lesson the hard way. He starts at his own rock bottom and then brings us along for the ride to the realization that balance can be achievable in life."

“The UnAmerican Dream” is Hidalgo’s second book; his first, “Driving Demand,” was named an Amazon Top New Release when it was published in 2015. Book Authority named “Driving Demand” one of the best marketing books of all time and among the top seven best-selling B2B books. In 2018, Amazon included “Driving Demand” as a top business and leadership book.
