Apple Watch offers new resources for corporate wellness programs

- Apple Watch was made to work with corporate wellness programs to keep employees healthy, active and productive through the workday, says Apple. The tech giant has a dedicated email address, email@example.com, that companies can use for more information about setting up an Apple Watch wellness program.
- Apple Watch tracks steps, the number of calories burned and certain workouts. It also comes with such fitness apps as Lose It!, Vitality and Virgin Pulse.
State-of-the-art wearables like Apple Watch make tracking fitness and wellness goals easy and fun for employees in corporate wellness programs. The microsite gives employers that are thinking about sponsoring a wellness programs the information to get started.
At least one large healthcare company, Aetna, went "all in" in adopting Apple Watches as an aspect of their company wellness program for employers and customers, pointing to the growing power of wearables in wellness.
Employers need to be aware of the regulations governing wellness programs and how they intersect with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s rules, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and other legislation.
