HR Florida State Council Honored with Prestigious SHRM Award for Enhancing HR Profession
State Council and 19 Local Chapters Receive Top Industry Accolades
Tampa, Fla. – (June 17, 2019) – The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) – the world’s largest HR professional society – recently awarded HR Florida State Council (HR Florida) its Platinum Excel Award for the Council’s accomplishments in 2018. The award recognizes accomplishments and strategic initiatives of both the Council and individual Chapters, which elevate the human resources profession with the goal of ultimately creating better workplaces and communities. Achievements are classified into three categories that include serving HR professionals, advancing the HR profession and enhancing the SHRM community.
“So much of SHRM’s success in shaping better workplaces – where employers and employees can thrive together – is owed to the hard work of our chapters and state councils such as HR Florida. Through their courage and leadership, HR Florida is driving true, measurable progress toward the healthy, productive, and dynamic workplaces of tomorrow,” said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, president and chief executive officer of SHRM. “Awarding this Platinum Excel Award is just one small way for SHRM to recognize and celebrate the big steps this Council has taken this past year.”
In addition to the Council’s prominent win, 19 out of the 28 local chapters within HR Florida were also recognized with Platinum, Gold and Silver Excel Awards – a testament to the entire organization’s commitment to serving the HR profession across the state. Chapters that received a platinum honor include: Bay County SHRM, Big Bend SHRM, Florida Keys SHRM, Greater Miami SHRM, HR Collier, HR Tampa, HRMA of Martin County, Inc., North Central Florida SHRM, Sarasota Manatee HRA, SHRM Jacksonville, SHRM Volusia/Flagler Chapter and Mid-Florida SHRM. Gold Excel Awards were given to Charlotte County SHRM, Greater Pensacola Chapter of SHRM, HRM Association of Palm Beach County, Ocala HR Management Association, Space Coast HR Association and St. Lucie County HR Association. Lastly, a Silver Excel Award was given to SHRM SWFL.
“These awards are a testament to our commitment to upholding our mission, which is to serve, advise and empower Florida workforce communities through education, partnerships and connections,” said HR Florida State Council President Heather Deyrieux. “I am incredibly proud of the Council and our individual Chapters’ work – it is a true honor to receive this recognition from SHRM and we look forward to celebrating these exceptional accomplishments at our annual conference in August.”
