2017 ShareFile Businesswomen Power City Index Uncovers Top Destinations
To support the next generation of female business owners, secure file-sharing experts ShareFile have created the ShareFile Businesswomen Power Index, to discover the best cities in the US for women to achieve business success.
The ShareFile Businesswomen Power City Index ranked cities based on their suitability for women entrepreneurs, looking at the percentage of women-owned businesses, the number of executive roles held by women, the cost of living in each area, and the wage gap between men and women by location.
The top 10 best cities for women to start a business are:
Baltimore, MD
Tampa, FL
Washington, D.C.
Las Vegas, NV
Orlando, FL
Sacramento, CA
Minneapolis, MN
Hartford, CT
Miami, FL
Providence, RI
Catherine Harrell, vice president of marketing at ShareFile, commented on the findings: “We are excited to share the best cities in the U.S. for women entrepreneurs, and help future female business owners make an informed decision about where they should base their enterprise.
“Figures show that the number of women owning businesses is increasing year over year, with a quarter of all businesses represented in our top 10 cities owned by women. It is our hope that our index will give businesswomen a good idea of where they can expect to have the best chances of success.”
